Principal Service Engineer, Nato, Italy
Mariano has worked for the NATO Communications and Information agency (NCIA) since 2013 and currently holds a Principal Service Engineer position, leading cloud computing IT adoption for NATO and developing and coordinating a number of initiatives and projects in support of NCIA Digital Transformation, including support to cloud computing architectures. He leads a technology adoption team in the Chief Technology Office, focusing on Emerging Disruptive Technologies (EDT) and introducing DevSecOps practices in support of C4ISR Application development. This involves integration via the NATO Software Factory, which makes use of standardised software engineering processes and common tooling allowing collaboration amongst NATO, Industry, Nations and Academia, enabling security by design for NATO C4ISR applications. Mariano has developed NATO Directives, such as the Cloud Computing Directive or the Directive for Obtaining Software for NATO and is currently drafting a Cloud Computing roadmap for the NATO CIO. Prior to his role with NCIA, he held different positions in NATO dealing with C4ISR application lifecycle management in support of NATO operations.
